    Hello from Wyoming

I'm Scott, I'm a young American that's looking to hunt the North Island for the roar in 2016. I'm not looking for a "estate" or "canned" hunt, I want the real New Zealand hunting experience for wild game, not some steroid injected stag tethered to a fence post! Hope to gain some information and friends from this forum, maybe you'd like to hunt pronghorn antelope, mule deer or elk in Wyoming, I'd be glad to help!

You dont know how happy it makes me to actually see an American say that. Most just want those disgusting farmed things with points and mass everywhere that are bred behind wire. Ever wanna come hunting in Aus let me know!

Barefoot I'd be interested in going after red deer, fallow, sika, hogs and goats and fly fishing as well.
BH I appreciate your comment and offer! I know men who've went on estate hunts and have harvested 350-450" stags but they're hardly representative of the breed. I'd be very happy to see let alone kill a bronze medal stag in the wild! What do you hunt in Australia BH?

Welcome FRY. It is a stunning state that you live in. Which Island did you intend on coming to? Sika are only found in the central North Island but everything else on you hit list can be found most everywhere else. If your time here will be short and you want stunning scenery then the South Island will be the place to head to. It is just a pity that the last two human occupants left eight years ago so now there are only Banjo playing red neck hill billies with two thumbs on each hand left in residence (they do speak English though - well sort of). Ha ha ha ha you just sit back and watch the fireworks now. It will be like the Fourth of July.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

A good keen man could achieve all that in one day if he was in central North Island. Would be a long day.

You will only get Sika in the Central North Island. The rest is either Island

Mate you are letting the NI down here, FRY clearly stated he is coming to the NI in the first sentence. I hope this was intentional

Yes I'm planning on going to the north island, still deciding on renting a 4x4 and hiking in from various locations or being dropped off by helicopter. Lots of planning left to do but I've got two years and I still need to find a couple hunting partners. One question I have is since I can't bring the meat home with me where can I donate it so it won't go to waste?
