    Here to learn.

    Hi All

Have been reading a bit on the forum and thought i'd join.
    A bit about myself:
I grew up in the city, now in my twenties and brand new to hunting. Have been out to the Kaimanawas a couple of times for weekend trips, but that's about it.
Really enjoy any opportunity to head into the bush which is limited with work and young family.

Keen to learn more about hunting in NZ as I really know very little. I appreciate that most of you have worked hard at the craft and that it would have taken a lot of trial, error and practice to learn what you all know about the sport.
I would really appreciate any wisdom or advise that anyone is willing to share. Even which blocks/ranges to explore first given my Auckland location. Species to go after first or things to keep in mind when looking into certain species or areas.

I'm keen to "get out there and do it", but would just appreciate any pointers. Even if someone wants to share some Do's and Dont's.

    Thanks in advance.

I hope I'm not being "thatguy"

Welcome @thatguy, You seem open, respectful and teachable.

If you're a millenial, then you're likely one of the good ones.

Carry on reading, ask questions. There are a bunch of new guys who started from scratch on here.

Have a nosey at how @Been Upto progressed.

Oh, and start looking for a .22. It's where almost every hunter/shooter here began. Great to learn on, cheap to run.

Hi @scotty, thanks for the response and offer!
Yes I have a FAL and bush gun (Rossi M92 in 454 casull) which I reload for with some 250grainers.
Have most of the other gears which I acquired in a bit of a rush for trip to Kaimanawas two weeks ago.
Fitness is lacking. I'm in shape but don't exercise - something I should definitely start with

I'd love to join in on trips, really don't mind not seeing anything at this stage, would just be good to shadow someone experienced. Youtube only teaches you that much hahaha

Thanks again to all for welcoming me. I have already had offers from a couple of members to join them on hunts, which is incredible!
