Hi doc,
I live on the kapiti coast so not not too far away.
We are soon to start a fresh hunts course through the kapiti deerstalkers which deals with new hunters and us older guys showing them the ropes from woe to go if your interested it ends with a hunt in Wanganui where last year all 12 hunters shot there first deer.

Hi Doch (and D1 Hilux) - there's a few members of HVDA here too. They have the most members of any Deerstalkers branch around by a long chalk and they have a great range up Kaitoke way at the Rimutaka Incline.

under "Hunter Training" on the site you will find info about the HUNTS course. Gerry bought the club some .243s so you can join up without a rifle and get the benefit of their knowledge before selecting a calibre that suits.
The HUNTS course is bloody good
