Howdy everyone. Been lurking in the shadows as a guest for the last 12 or so months and figured I'd join up. Time will tell if that was wise or not!
Introduced to deer-stalking by a mate a couple of years ago and as-per, pretty hooked now. Grew up on a sheep farm but father had no time for creeping through the bush when I was younger. Plenty of firearms exp with pest control etc, standard story. Had mates into it during HS but my priorities were elsewhere.
Couple years ago had a mate invite me out for an armed-tramp over Sth Westland, he's been bush stalking for 25+ yrs. I grew up in Coromandel so bush confident, but way out of my depth when it came to the rest of it. Cool to find something in my 30s that I have such little knowledge of while also adding in trying to outsmart a wild animal. Have both bases covered here with another mate heavy into the alpine hunting side of things.
Have had success, have had failures and have had an absolute blast doing both and learning from both.
Am currently getting my kit sorted, something I have learned is a constantly evolving process! Seems to be a never-ending loop of streamlining.
Not entirely sure what else to put here to be honest.
Cheers
