Dive right in. Do you need a rifle that can do both or will you look at getting different set ups for each?

I can afford to get one good rifle at this point, so definitely want something that could do both. I have been looking at the 300 PRC for the range but am worried that will not work very well for hunting as I’ve been told it will just bore right through deer if they are close. I don’t want to just wound things so unsure what to get at this point. Tips welcome
