    Hi Guys,

I'm probably a fraud here - as I'm not a hunter at all! I've been target shooting since being in the High School cadets in the 50's and 60's and never really stopped except for a patch in the 60's and 70's when I was in the Merchant Navy. Mainly 7.62/.308 but occasionally Colt 9mm pistol, 38 Webleys, Stirlings and SLRs when the Queen provided the ammo in the Naval Reserves. Drifted in and out of 22 indoors which didn't bring me on much, but back to 308 outdoors in the early 90's. Competed at the NRA Nationals a few times but can't say I really enjoyed it, too competitive which took the pleasure out of it. Been a member of Cheltenham Club since 2009 when I moved up from Christchurch and the fun has come back. We hold club competitions with classes for hunting rifles which a lot of guys enjoys so I've just jumped in with a Tikka T3 varmint in 6.5x55 which at the moment hasn't fired a shot - can't wait until Saturday! We have a firing point at 100 yards for sighting in on electronic targets so any hunters welcome!

    Thanks - Martin

From one old serviceman to another "Welcome Martin"
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
