    Hi I'm Ryan

    Hey everyone,

Fairly new around here, been on the site a handful of times for a quick look around but thought i'd finally create an account. Keen as to get into some deer but I've never been after them and don't know where to start. Shot plenty of rabbits but thought it's about time I upgrade my target species. I'm currently living and working in Auckland so if anyone's heading out and is willing to have an apprentice tag along in the future then i'd be stoked as!

Hi Scotty, yea that's a fair call. I'm 22, fitness would be average, and as far as gear goes I have boots, a pack, knife, sleeping bag, a few pots and pans, and warm clothing...

No rifle as of yet, I was just hoping to tag along and learn a thing or 2 first. I'm working on the freezer - I will have one soon

Cool. One thing you can do, assuming you have a .22 or access to one, is practice as much as you can.

Good skills with a .22 are a big help when making a shot on a deer with a centerfire.

Yep, makes sense. I use the old man's one down in Napier when i'm there so the rabbit talley is in the hundreds. Good tip though, thanks
