Hi and welcome. been the odd deer shot with that little Russian cartridge just means you have to get a bit closer . get comfortable hitting a 8 inch target at 150m and get yourself a permit and go bush. you will learn faster by being out there and also that's where you will find deer. ask all the questions you want its called learning from others experience best way I have found as it saves time and shortens up your learning process to where you bring home the meat thus making wife not so unhappy about money spent on rifles. just remember don't take wife to gunshop as they look at price labels as new guns are 2/3rds of actual price paid and second hand guns are 1/2 what you actually paid and when buying more ammo for centrefire have old packets there to replace the new shiny box as that was the boxes your mate borrowed and you just got them back and you can tell the missus that if you spend a little on a reloading kit you will cut ammo expenses by 2/3rds for each bullet fired , most don't realise you just shoot more but its a lot of fun.
