    Hi there

Hi all. I am from South Africa. One is humbled by the experience of the shooters on this forum. Currently developing a load for a 6.5 x 57 Mauser. Eventually managed to lay my hands on a couple of boxes of 143 gr Hornady ELD-X. Also have a 308 Win. Both guns is going to the kids in December this year when I shall be in the enviable position that my safe is "empty". Looking at getting a 338 Win Mag with short "18 barrel with good recoil suppressor for an "over the shoulder" bush hunting gun with heavy bullets for short range hunting. A Howa with a clipped barrel should do just fine for this. Then there is the need for a long range gun for both paper punching and shooting Africa plains game. This not intended to be a "carry over the shoulder" gun. Looked at a 30 378 (just because) but abandoned the idea. I am back to the 7 mm`s. Fancy the Practical as well as the 7 mm 300 Norma but tend to lean in favor of the Practical for availability of cases. Although the practical thing to do, no pun intended, would probably be to buy a 7 mm Rem Mag and call it a day. Allows for the opportunity to shoot over the counter ammunition in an emergency...

    Welcome
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
