    Most hunting in NZ is short range, under 300yds and a 308w is good to 600yds. 308w Ammo is then also cheap and plentiful so the argument for a 308w is quite compelling. A mate has a 6.5mmSwede and recently had issues with getting projectiles, while looking around the 7mm and 7.62mm offerings were still plentiful and diverse. Its your $s however.
