The only guy I know that hunts said to get a 308, and he certainly brings deer home. My brother has a 7mm-08 but he's one of those guys that likes the gear but never gets around to going out

Should I get camo?

I'm pretty experienced with tramping although its been a couple of years since I did an overnight.
