    Hi from Wellington

    Hey guys

Thought I would introduce myself, based in Wellington, did a lot of rabbit and possum hunting back in Palmy when I was a teen but when I moved to Welly I had to give that up. Joined the HVDA 2 years ago, did their HUNTS course which was great. I was beginning to really get into things early last year, mainly just solo hunting on DOC land around the place, went out to Cape Palliser and shot my first pig in June but then in August I tore the ACL in my right knee so that put a very sharp halt to things. I had surgery in November and am only now slowly testing the body again, problem being I'm young and stupid I tend to try and go for places that are a little harder to get too because I can afford to since I was quite fit. Now with a slightly dodgy knee I need to be a bit more careful, especially hunting solo.

Anyway how's it going, looking forward to learning a thing or two from you more experienced guys.

Welcome mate, I just had ACL reconstruction at the start of this month. Get a PLB for some piece of mind mate, don't let the knee stop you doing what you love

    Welcome aboard.
I have both knees with niggles. Too scared to go near the doc fearing the worst.

Always carry a PLB with me when I'm out in the bush don't worry!

How's the recovery going? You get a hamstring or a patella graft?

I just have to be careful since my job relies on me being able to smash myself around so I've had to be quite strict with myself, that and I don't really want to end up like my Dad at 55 with a noticeable limp and physically unable to run!

Yeah I don't go out during the roar unless it's in the wide wide open and I'm wearing so much blue I look like a smurf for that exact reason! If I could get access to private land I would hunt there exclusively.

Recovery is in its early stages, just started on the exercycle and over did it a bit on Monday. Had the hammy graft and to be honest the knee is mint but the hammy is still sore.

I know the exact feeling, the hamstring is a real nightmare for the first 2 months. I found the bike good for getting movement back in the leg though. Took nearly 3 months for the hamstring bruise to go for me!
