    Hi from Wellington

    Greetings.

I’m Dan - a 32 year old city boy with no hunting experience. Have spent a fair bit of time in the bush and around firearms (previously served as a rifleman) but have never given this hunting malarkey a go, but I’m looking at changing that this year!

Due to pick up my first deer rifle in a few months (.308) so looking for any advice or yarns to help me along, or better yet anyone willing to take this know-nothing city slicker on a hunt or three. I’ll bring the grog.

    Cheers

Hello Dan. Suggest you start with NZ Police and NZDA and possibly NRA. Booze would be the last thing you need.

Cheers Woody - I’ll have a chat with NZDA. Obviously I was being facetious about the booze....

Hey Dan, Hutt Valley Deerstalkers have been a great support and information hub since I got in to hunting last year(City boy too). Expensive to start the memrbership but worth it.

Welcome Dan, I’m a member of Hutt Valley NZDA (but only for the range) they have a lot to offer for someone starting out. But this is the best place to learn, ask question and get involved. James Papakowhai
