Welcome, and congrats on getting your license! Awesome to see someone getting into hunting from outside the usual channels, and showing such enthusiasm for it! I hope you can share that with others and get them into it.

How did you find the HUNTS course? From what I've heard, it delivers a great bullshit-free practical intro to hunting.

There's plenty of great rifles come up for sale on here when you get access to the Buy/Sell page (usually after a bit of activity on the forum). There's about 50 "what's the best first rifle" threads, with about 100 different recommendations, so have a search. You don't need anything fancy to start out with.

The HUNTS course was awesome. Honestly you can go from zero to hero in that course. I went from a non confident firearms user with little to no knowledge of hunting, to feeling totally comfortable with topographic maps and compasses, camping , firearms, shot placement and field dressjng etc. It covers absolutely everythjng. And one day soon I feel comfortable taking my son out as he is mad keen too. But I thought if he wants to do it, I might as well understand all there is to it aswell, so I know he is being taught properly. I would recommend it to anyone
