How's it going XR - I remember your voice too.
I got stuck the last few weeks swapping out 'Son No 2's' Celica engine - tragic story .............
'Son No1' swapped it for a perfectly good Camry and it ran for four days ........ and expired.
So he gave it to his brother for Xmas, and that son vacuumed and polished it - even made it smell nice ........... and dad saw the love .......
So I asked around and got the 'experts' advice - a later engine will shoehorn right in.
So I bought a ST-202 engine to go into the ST-182 engine bay ............ and discovered the 'experts' knew half the story - I had to figure the other half.
Including the stupid computer ............
The thing started with the first 'whiirrr' of the starter - and it took me three days to find the air leak.
It's my seventeen year old's first car, and it goes like a scalded cat - it's bloody fast ................
"Mum and I reckon you ought to swap it for mum's Echo."
"Get stuffed !"
"You haven't even got a proper license."
"So ..........."
So I pulled the front wheel off to replace the wheel bearing and will shove it back on when he's 25.
I pulled the old engine apart and a bearing had spun wearing the crank 0.013", the bearing next to that so worn it had hammered out. That's an impressive engine, I'm surprised it went for four days.
Have already got next years supply of wood stashed - bought a new blade for my saw as the old one has lost quite a few teeth and wouldn't hold a set - so I splashed out.
I also took 'Son No 2' up to Kaipara where he shot his first fallow. I got one too and a couple of days later I looked out our kitchen window and watched a fallow spike buck hoeing into the missus garden fifteen feet away. He's been around a while that one, the neighbourhood has named him 'Nigel' - I saw him on the road last Xmas.
Oh - made my pemmican too, it's quite tasty and I expect I'll be doing that again - provided I ever shoot another animal.
Loaded up some snider rounds today with the .600" lead ball - they're shppting good for me, so I'll be taking that out not too far away. Will probably sleep over there as that last trip scared the missus a bit - me too, truth be known.
Anyway - been a while since I talked to anyone, might take me a while to get started.
