G'day SilverHawkll
Welcome to the best Hunting and Shooting forum on the net.
Legally gaining a firearms licence and purchasing a Rifle here in NZ is not very difficult at all, gaining the correct endorsements to own an MSSA's is also not difficult but it does take slightly more time and of course more money.
Gaining and endorsement to own a Pistol is more difficult, one has to join a Pistol Club, be a Probationary Member for at least 6 months, gain endorsement from the Pistol Club to support your application and upgrade your security all of which takes a lot of time and effort and costs considerably more than gaining a standard firearms licence.
Our biggest difficulty comes when we wish to purchase Firearms and Firearms parts from outside of NZ.
Gaining and import permit is a simple process as long as the Firearm required is already on the approved import list.
Getting the same firearm and in some cases parts and optics exported from the country of origin, especially the USA, can sometimes be the difficult bit.
But that said we have it pretty good here.
Look forward to reading more of your posts.
Cheers
Pete
