    Intros

    Hi All,
    Like many in lockdown it's made me want to get back into hunting, and this forum is proving such a fantastic resource.
    I grew up on a farm in Otago, shooting bunnies, pigs, goats, and deer in the back-blocks and forestry, not realizing how lucky I had it.
    I still hunt those old stomping grounds but only once a year when visiting family, and so am trying to learn the lay of the land of upper north island - Kaimai's, Coromandel, etc.
    Generally shoot with a Sako 85 243, a few bunny guns, and some old LE303s etc., from Dad and Uncles etc..

    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
    Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
    Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
    Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
    Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
    Rule 5: Check your firing zone
    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    Thanks guys for all the welcomes. It's nice to see a few locals up here - I'm quite new in Auckland to yet find anywhere to shoot locally. Even after 25 years away in the UK I can still wander around local farms down in Otago and be known by the farmers, but up here it's been tough - just another JAFA with no idea eh. I've seen some decent pig sign in behind Puhoi, but that's all private land?
    Looking forward to Level 1/2 when I can go out for an open day at the NZDA range
