    New from Auckland

    Hello all,
I am getting back into shooting after a 20 year break. Originally from Rotorua but now living in Auckland after spending 13 years living overseas.
Looking at joining a local club for range activities and also interested in Varminting.
I am keen to get my young fellas introduced to the sport, and have just got a bolt action Savage Mk2 22LR for that purpose, as well as a .223 AR (yawn for many…) for me.
This forum looks great with a wealth of experience and information, so glad to be part of your community.
    Thanks
    Grant

Try the North Auck NZDA , there is also an Auckland NZDA but I believe it is a pain going and coming from there range (in forest) , you have to go in convoy and can not leave during or enter after they have gone in
North Auck has there own range

Welcome to the forum Grant. A better bunch of blokes you wouldn't find anywhere.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Thanks all, and thanks moonhunt for the advice on the North Auckland DS... I had intended to join the Auckland branch, but noticed the odd access to the range...

    Welcome Grant,

I shoot at both. Member of Auckland and former NA member.

Auckland's range is fully covered, so better all year around. Casual shooting fees are cheaper than North Auckland.
North Auckland, as mentioned doesn't have controlled access times, as they own the land, but is not so good in wet or stinking hot weather due to its open on grass. As you freeze or cook.
You can also shoot small bore at the various small indoor ranges.
Auckland Service Rifle shoot at Clevedon on the NRA range in summer and at Waiuku during the winter. Plenty of AR's around there. I'll be there on Saturday.

    Thanks for the welcome.
And thanks Dogmatix for the range advice, and would love to join in a Clevedon shoot with other AR users!
I will check out their website... Clevedon Rifle Club is this the one?

    Hi Grant,
ASRA use the Clevedon range, their own website is:
    Auckland Service Rifle Assn

Next shoot is a competition one:

    19-Jan Sun Clevedon Carbineers Shoot

    Regards,

    Ant

Thanks again Ant, will get my joining hat on...

My avatar is a NZ Pattern Wheeled Carrier / LPOP made in Wellington (Local Pattern Observation Post). It is based on the Indian pattern wheeled carrier and uses a Ford Chassis.
The actual photo is of Kiwi's in K-Force during the Korean war, 16 Field Regiment.

Grant, I won't be at next weeks shoot, but will hopefully be at the 15 Feb and 8 March ones.
Give me a bell closer to the time if you want to head out there for a shoot.
    I'm in St Heliers.
    Welcome to Sako club.
