Hi team,
After safely arriving in Christchurch on Thursday, I decided to go out for a quick hunt today in the Tenahaun area.
Didn't take my rifle with me caus the fridge is still in the transit with the relocation company. No point shooting something if it can't be stored in the fridge.
Only saw some old signs, but the country was magnificent. Lucky to be hunting in this region.
Few first impressions:
1. More wasps than up north. Don't know if its's just this block.
2. Descending can be difficult in steep terrain as there are no trees to grab onto. Might treat myself to one or two trekking poles.
3. Binoculars and range finder are used way more often. These were gears that I didn't normally carry up north.
Currently doing some research on the Doc blocks around Timaru/Fairlie way. Will head down next weekend to try to get some wallabies.
Looking forward to meeting you friendly fellow Canterbury hunters in person!
