New in ChCh
I thought I had posted in this forum already, around air rifles, but can't find my previous post(s) so perhaps was a different forum!
Myself (M, 52) and my little guy (M, 11) are looking to get into rifle shooting, eventually hunting.
I haven't fired a rifle since I was in my mid-teens; I've taken my little fella to the NZHA range twice in a couple of weeks and he's doing ok on the club .22
I'm getting myself all set up for the NZ FAL and should have a gun safe sorted this week and can submit an application.
Looking to spend time at the range and later on go do a bit of hunting; small first, then larger and further.
Cheers
Jeff

Welcome. NZHA is a good start too. Well worth it. The shotgun range on tuesdays can be fun too....They are pretty helpful too .

Hi. I'm newbie too. Nice to meet you.

I'm new and in Chch too.
Been considering joining the NZHA, so happy to hear good things about it. I'm 10 mins away from there and can see the advantage for getting to know your firearms and zeroing them in etc.
Been there a few times with family members and it seems like a good place to be.

So the gun safe got installed. The FAL application is in. The safety course is in early May.
And a friend will let me use (indefinitely) his CZ BRNO in .22 once I'm legal.
So making some progress slowly.
Still have my eye on a nice Tikka T1X though - mainly because my little fella has been shooting the club gun of same and won't consider anything else; he shouldered a CZ457 at Hunting and Fishing but still preferred the 'feel' of the T1X which is a good gun by all accounts, so why not?! :)
