New Guy From New Mexico, USA

Hello from the high deserts of Northern New Mexico. I just stumbled across this site, looks pretty interesting! It's interesting the places you have to shoot. Where I live, the shooting can be as long or as close as you like. I worked in OZ and Indonesia (Borneo Island) for many years for BHP. I worked with a number of Kiwis' (great guys). They always invited me to visit them there, but I never got the chance.

I'm currently building a AR .308 for shooting coyotes and feral hogs, we have a $hit load them around here. But great long range shooting. I'm using the new DPMS GII upper and lower, DPMS 24" barrel, Mid West 15" Keymod rail, Geissele SSA, Luth MBA stock, Nightforce ATACR 5-25x56mm MOAR and a bunch of other bling to hang off it.

    Cheers,

    George

I was in Balikpapan in the 90's as well. I was a maintenance manager for BHP at Senakin Mine just south of there. I used to stay at the Blue Sky and Dusit when I was in Balikpapan. We surely must have crossed paths at some point.
Did you get to The NRA Wittington Center when you were in Raton? I help out there as often as I can and I have friends that have ranches in that country, great hunting.

    Cheers,

    George

Welcome Jungle George. I was with BHP for many years in Oz in steel. I assume you were in mining in Oz though.

Hey Zimmer, I was in coal in Indonesia, but I had to go to Brisbane office now and again to get my ass chewed by the bean counters.

    Cheers,

    George

Yeh the only company mining us steel guys were interested was a transfer to the Ekati diamond mine in Canada
Probably even more inhospitable than parts of Indonesia!
Had half a chance to go to Ekati to do a maintenance evaluation but nothing ever came of it.
It was one that the senior maintenance people scored not the plebs.
