A New Member from Mahana, Nelson

    Hi Everyone,
We live in Mahana, Nelson and have recently taken up hunting, have left it in the later stage of life but it is a lot of fun and my 14 & 16 year old daughters are also very very keen.

It’s amazing how far they will walk if you put a front pack on each of them and give them other items to carry, they go for miles and no complaining 😊

We had the great opportunity to do a hunt Stu at Glenburn hunting last year and that has ignited the enthusiasm from us all. We have purchased a 308 and have been out a couple of times to no avail yet, but sure that will change soon, well that’s what I keep telling the girls.

Now finding our own way and here to learn as much as possible and find some new spots to go to.

    Thanks Team

Gidday and welcome to the forum. get the kids addicted to the outdoors, it keeps them broke so they can't spend their money on other 'stuff'.
My 14year old boy walks rings around me now when we go tramping/hunting.

    Welcome aboard.
One of my work mates lives out there and is just getting back into hunting and camping with his two young boys.
Keep them interested and they will have a healthy passtime to enjoy.

    Welcome,

Despite the username, we’re in Mahana also.
Targeting goats can be a good bet as you’re more likely to get some action and keep enthusiasm levels high.

    Thanks Everyone for the welcome.

And yes, trying to keep them interested in hunting, especially with 2 Teenage girls, its great they want to go out to learn to hunt than go to a party and get trashed , hope it stays that way for a while yet.
Hopefully we will get something before they lose too much interest

    Cheers

Good stuff man, there's some amazing hunting up these areas.
I managed to get my eldest daughter out into the backcountry this winter and she shot her first 2 deer! So stoked!
There's heaps of Nelson people on the forum so I'm sure you'll find your feet here!
    Cheers
