    Smile New to NZ

As customary I thought I should introduce myself on joining the forum. My name is Dean (Falvs) and I have just been transferred to NZ (Palmerston North) for a couple of years.

To say I'm pumped to be here is an understatement as I love my deer hunting and fly fishing in Australia. Both of which you seem to excel in here in NZ.

I have a stable of tools back at home (I'm waiting on the Aussie tool jokes all ready) that I use for fox eradication, bunny busting deer hunting and a fair bit of target shooting. I haven't got my rifles here yet, but that shouldn't take long.

I'm keen to head out into the local ranges soon and will just observe the local practices and pick up some field craft before seeking my own game. It's always better to know the local ways rather than stumble into some ones hunt. Any advice on best practices and customs are will always be welcome.

I'm predominantly a meat hunter, and love to fill the fridge, freezer and smoker. I will be getting down the south for some mountain work in the next year and hope to contribute to the hunting community while here.

    Good hunting,

    Dean.

    Welcome Dean.
Hope you fill the freezer soon.

It is a shame you moved to almost the middle of the wrong island.😆

Welcome Dean. Don't listen to those fellahs with four big toes on their hands (translates to inbred south islanders). One of the local ways that you should know of straight away is that giving beer to old buggers is a good thing to do. Ha ha ha ha and before you say anything, pull your head in R93.

    Many thanks

    Many thanks.

It just highlights to me how welcoming NZ is.

Good hunting to you all and I may see you in the hills.

I was a member of the ADA, so will pick up there with the NZDA.

    Many thanks,

    Falvs

I'm ex-Palmy (been in Auckland a little over a year) and you're in one of THE best places for hunting deer. And there are some great hidden creeks for trout.
Palmerston North might be lacking in some things, but not when it comes to the great outdoors.

He could go to a sewage pond to fill some bottles and you wouldn't know the difference I reckon.

Unless you have developed a taste for real beer?

Go get a big black hairy dog up ya. Waikato knows it's place at the top of the podium.
