    From the other side!

Yes, from England, south west, in the county of Devon
    I'm a full-time deer stalker/fly fishing guide, although I'm semi-retired now in my 60's
Thinking, just thinking, about a visit to NZ, mainly sight seeing as the non hunting/fishing wife would be coming along.
But, I was thinking about a Tahr, and visiting late November/early December, and of course fly fishing.
Just not sure about logistics of bringing a rifle with me and your rules and regs.
    I assume they can't be loaned out/hired?
I visited Montana 4 times and each and every time I had hassle leaving England with a rifle.
    Any advice welcomed.
    Cheers
    Richard

A visitor can obtain a visitors firearms licence and you could loan a firearm or use a guides rifle I believe.

Liked Exeter a lot lived briefly in Sidmouth and spent a bit of time around Bigbury. Used to race sailboats all along the South coast.

Welcome. There's a few threads on here that go into this subject deeply, Depending on your travel:hunting ratio you may be better off with a guide that supplies the rifle or there has been some good buggers on here that have offered their time to take people out.
Search the threads and you'll get a great amount of background info to help you start to plan things.

    Welcome Richard.

Im in Robertsbridge (East Sussex) early August. Far from you?
Would be happy to host you on a deer hunt here in NZ (they wont have antlers when you are thinking of coming). You wouldn't need to bring any hunting kit-between my sons and I we have several of everything I live in the southern NI.

    Cheers

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

OK, this is getting a bit spooky, I met my wife in Heavitree hospital in the early 80's she was a nurse.

    Thanks very much, really appreciated.
I know it's miles from Devon, but if you can make it down my way I'll take you out and return the offer, red/fallow/roe although the first 2 will be in velvet as you probably know.
If I did make the trip down to NZ I think I would have to pass on the deer, my wife has enough of me chasing them home here, but if I said I was after a Tahr she would understand.

    Cheers
