    Should finally say hello

Hi all, finally getting around to introducing myself.

I'm Brownie, I am a master's student in Auckland, soon to be handing in my thesis and entering the real world.
I first started shooting as a kid at the Birkenhead rifle club. That club shut, and that was that until my partner's family started taking me hunting ducks and deer the past three years.
After a bit of a wait, I have a firearms licence myself and am eager to get out there are facilitate it all for myself.

I have some ponds I would like to shoot in May with my young (1 1/2 yo) lab I've been doing my best to train up in my spare time. I managed to pick up some decoys from a forum member Mark M who very kindly gave them to me for free.
Would also be keen on getting into some skeet or the like in Auckland to improve my shotgunning but don't know where to start there.

When I get the time, I plan on bushwacking around a little bit in search of some deer to get outside and enjoy the fresh air after too much time at a desk. Something to fill the freezer would be awesome, but I understand there will be a learning curve to get there.

Just lurking around the forum for now, reading other people's experiences and tips, getting an idea of how much it all costs and putting it all together slowly.

    Cheers

    Welcome aboard.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Welcome to you @Brownie8 and Bruce. What field are you studying when you aren't in the field?

I am a medicinal chemist studying towards my master's of pharmacology with the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre.
