Hello from sunny Wellington
I have been shooting something basically since I could walk.
My old man had me living in the whops of the west coast ( S.I. ) most of my childhood and it gave me an appreciation of the great outdoors that I am forever grateful for.
I also had the opportunity to be part of the NZ Territorials based out of Greymouth ( Alpha Company, N.M.W.C. ), which with my love of outdoors then gave me a new perspective of the use of "firearms".
I had a blast and enjoyed the discipline, the uniform and of course, the use of MSSA firearms - I got to do and see shit you just wouldn't believe.
Unfortunately I was a weak 50 kg runt and with asthma that kicked in at will, my dreams of joining the Regular Force disappeared very quickly.
I then moved back to Welly's and left all that stuff behind me, except for the fact I still had a passion for firearms.
So 30 years down the track, now overweight and asthma gone, I am relatively happy with the way things turned out but I still wonder how things would have turned out if I had managed to get into the RF whenever I see NZ involvement in overseas deployment.
Now, we as a nation of hunters / tramper's are being shunned due to an event that the Government could have prevented rather than the knee jerk reaction afterwards to rip our small community to pieces - and mark my words, this is just the beginning from this non voted in Government - thanks MMP!
All the best and safe shooting to all.
