Sometimes you can get nice results with just an iphone or other smart phone.

And they print out ok. Although 99% of my imagery remains digital.
Can't find the other photos taken with a Canon 550D at the moment, they're hidden away in some obscure directory on the computer that I made late one night, probably after too many wines :)
Ive got a Nikon d200,pretty good but the newer equal is meant to be streets ahead in quality.Lenses what are you using
Got a stock Canon 55mm and a Canon 55-250, but most of the snapshots just get taken with the phone.
Must admit that my good camera gear is a little out of date; can you buy film readily nowadays? I'd certainly like to get something I could bolt my old lenses onto as you just cant beat a big bit of glass for resolution. The old Nokia N95 that I've just retired as a phone (didn't like the swim in the pool) did take pretty good pics for something that is a secondary function but I like something with a zoom, and telephoto is even better.
I currently use a Canon 7D with a couple of different lenses: EF-S 18-55 f2.8 IS, EF 70-300 f4.5-5.6 IS and EF 100 f2.8 Macro. Sometime in the future I will replace the 70-300mm with a EF 70-200 f4 IS
Gadgetman, I'm pretty sure that the lenses you have for your film SLR body will fit on a newer DSLR. No harm in taking one into a shop to try. Just keep in mind the effect of crop sensors.
I have standard 50mm f3.5 nikon 600f4auto 17mm f3.5 sold 70-210 f2.8vr
What editing programs you guys using I have a nikon nx old but not bad
On my DSLR i take just about all my shots in RAW. I am using Lightroom to process them and the jpeg images i get off my little camera.
Have been playing round with the trial version of photomatix pro as well. Just to see how it works. I might end up buying it i haven't decided yet.
Si is lightroom an excellent program
I like it but i haven't really used anything else. I find lightroom a lot easier to use than the Canon software that came with my camera. Lightroom can do a lot more than what i know how to use. So it will suit my level of skill for a long time i think.
I shoot in RAW as well and use the bundled Canon software that came with the camera; Digital Photo Professional. I have tinkered with Lightroom in the past and plan on buying a copy sometime soon as I've seen a lot of very nice processed images come from it.
The Canon software is good (Digital Photo Professional), i used it for quite a while before going to lightroom. A couple of images that i processed in Digital Photo Professional i went back and re-processed in Lightroom after i got it. It took me a while to re-produce the images the way i wanted them but i eventually got the same and better results with Lightroom.
I think you can use SLR lens on a DSLR , BUT they will be different , as the lenght to film/sensor is different , so a 50mm SLR lens , does not mean its a 50mm DSLR len , if that makes sense .
I just bought PaintShop Pro x4 Ultimate. Haven't played with it much yet but seems pretty good.
Lense wise. For your D200 the Nikkor 50mm F1.8 is cheap for what it is and quality of photos it takes.
Im flogging one of my lenses if anyone ken on bird photography or surf pics -9k 600f4
I have a Nikon D7000 with a AF 28-80 lens from my old Nikon F55 SLR and also have a Tamron 70-300 from the same camera that i use as well.
Im still figuring it all out but i have taken some nice pics with it.
I think when i was looking at buying they told me that a SLR lens from the old Nikon was 1.4x the zoom of a DSLR lens in the same size and Canon were 1.3x.
Have used Canon gear for years. Have upgraded to Mirrorless now. Canon R7 and Canon 100-500 RF lens for wildlife photography. Lens is as heavy as my previous 100-400 EF. Both camera body and lens have image stabilisers ( 3 on the lens) which help if having to hand hold. Also use an 18-150 for general work. $8,000 for it so will be a long time before another upgrade.
I use Canon for almost 15 years, Canon 40D still in use, with 17-85mm lens, and 5D mark II with two lens, 16-35mm-F2.8 wide angle, and 70-200mm F2.8. The issue is the weight, so I always carry my 40D, and that `s I am considering to buy another SONY Aplha for both photo shooting and film.
