Con is the wide field of view and the camera comes with no zoom function, just the fixed length. Pro is the quality and build, better to spend the money and get decent gear than a cheapie that may crap out in 6 months IMO.
Would be good for a hat mount for your point of view landing the fish, but maybe consider a cheap camera in a waterproof case, placed on a small tripod by the rivers edge pointing across the river and at you ? Would look pretty good as you pull the fish in closer to the camera.
GoPros are great for catching action for sure, but a lot of videos using it just show sharing the scenery as much as sharing the action. I guess it depends on what your goal is for video. I use a camera with a decent zoom on rabbit shooting because they're so small and so far away![]()
