    help finding a new camra/video

hi guys im looking for a new camera and video etc

at the moment I use a tz20 camera and a hc-v500 no I don't use the tz anymore as I find my phone more handy to use but would like to know what others use as I think its time to upgrade. but is it worth going down the dslr ? or a point and shoot type. did look at a fujiflim x-s1.

any help would be cool thanks

I think I need to follow you on this journey Dale. It is becoming much harder to find film for my "Box Brownie".

I've got a canon hs 50. 50x optical zoom takes hd video. Reasonably light and not too big Battery life is not great when taking video but I've now got 2 spare batteries.

My old video camera is getting past it. I have been thinking about buying a WASP (go pro type) of camera. It is in waterproof housing, takes pics to 16MP and 1080p HD video. A remote wrist attachment allows remote monitoring and control. Not sure how much control I would have on exposure, backlighting, zoom etc though.
I imagine I could get pretty fair pics and video from this. Any comment / advice appreciated.

Interested in this thread also. I want a new video camera, as mine is an old mini-tape one, which has been OK. I need one that will zoom plenty, but still not blur too much on anti-shake. I know -get a tripod, but not lugging one of those around the Motu/Urewera's.

I got me a Sony A65v SLT 2 years back they are great real nice still shots and i believe the best HD video of any camera in its class , yes they'l be bulkier then some camcorders but id never go back to a camcorder after owning one of these ,il post a review of what these can do ,as well Sony has a lot of similar models to chose from.

Whats you price range and what will you use it for most. I have 3 lense dslr but no point taking it on a hunt it is bulky as. Also have a little p and s waterproof olymous that comes out with pretty good shots and is shock proof so dropping it is not an issue.. Like scopes not all glass Is equal. Also take a photo with potential cameras and zoom in on the picture to see what the quailty is. Also check the coliur of the photos mist cameras tend to one colour or another.

Oh and the go pro is basically a wide angled lense. Interesting shots so normally just point and press. Interested to see how it goes.

Will a go pro take that quality of video? If so, it's pretty impressive.

none of my vids are from a gopro, but a go pro is really good for close up as it doesn't have any type of zoom that I know of and the new gopro 4 is going to film in 4k so that's a few steps above what my camera can do, you will find that gopro 3 and up all film in full 1080p hd @Woody
