Only been thru there once on the other side in a railcar in those days, another mate and some friends tried to raft the river on a 44 gallon drum contraption, they got wedged on som rocks in the middle of the river, had to tie a rope round himself a jump in, the river was running high, managed to swing to the road side bank by swimming down stream. Secured the rope and the rest got out handover hand to safety, the remains of the raft are probably still there!
