Cow moose, on the way to rifle range last days off,
A few photos from a little Ruahine walkabout, all taken on the same day 23/4/24
Stag in that last photo was one very lucky stag, had him lined up at 470yds but couldn't decide whether to take the shot or not considering the long walk out the next day. But ole staggy decided to lie down so i couldn't see him in the tussock , but a photo is a lot easier to carry!!
I thought I would post up some photos of the past month or so of hunts.
During the roar I got access to a property but hunting is restricted but I didn't care as I was happy to be there out and about enjoying the land scape, bush and animals that were on the place.
Spent a few days chasing fallow but nothing big worth shooting seen.
Spent some time hunting thar but all the big bulls were way too high in inaccessble areas, managed to come across this nice bull 200 mtrs away but he's not over 13" so i let him be to grow some more.
Been seeing a few of these, while out hunting, fishing and walking the dog, got a tag, but as i don't like bear meat, as usual I haven't bothered, nice big boar seen on Sunday, was pretty close to dumping him, but short on time to deal with animal, got a month off so me and dog are out scouting for birds and deer every day.
Out scouting yesterday,
seen one of these, (cow Moose) nice and close, edge of one of my duck ponds,
Heres a few I've got
A few from the weekend.
Red spiker
Fallow doe and blue pig
Young fallow
Red stag still in wallow mode.
Young bull tahr (sorry about the focus, light was fading).
This photo has a red spiker, blue pig and fallow doe in it. I later found out there was a wallaby there too.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.
