Smallish light weight Camera Tripods

Im currently using all i had, a big heavy old alloy one, to mount my canon SX50 on mainly for video.

Its way to big, way to heavy, i dont really need it to expand out as high, i currently strap to side of pack.

Looking to get some thing that packs up smaller, is heaps lighter, dont want to get too carried away and spend hundreds on a real quality carbon fibre one etc.

Theres a few cheepie ones on TM and availble via aliexpress etc that ive found.

What are you guys using? Anything that you have found is reasonably priced, will meet my weight/size criteria and works ok?

I bought a short Slik brand one. It's not uber light, but it's very robust and stable. One similar to this;

I bought a gorilla pod and have used it the last couple if weeks have been real good with my dlsr

Gorilla pod.

I have the same camera. I think Norway uses an sx50/gorilla pod for his videos too. Highly recommended for lightweight.

Thanks for that guys, i like the look of that Slik compact, i have a Joby Gorillapod video (the smaller one) and i hate the bloody thing, do you guys have the larger 'SLR-Zoom' one?

I had the same as Josh but I changed to the Mini 2

How do you find it mate? Tall enough to get above tussock and grass? Stable?

Left: Promaster XC525C Carbon $239 USD (1600mm high 1190 grams, weight hook, integral monopod, twist locks)

I bought an INCA i 3170 it's about 800 grams. Measures 440mm long when folded down. Extends up to about armpit height and is real stable. The best bit wad it was only $80.i bought it for my video camera so wasn't so concerned about weight. But more so strength and stability

It would probably be shit... I actually have Compact 11! I just checked...

I did rip the top swivel off and replace it with the one from my older bigger tripod; so I could use my hot foot.

Ok sweet, I was thinking about buying one, probably won't now. If I'm clambering around in wet weather, rough stuff I'll carry camera in its waterproof case and only fit it to the tripod when needed, otherwise I'll just carry it screwed onto the tripod.

I ordered a Slik Compact 2 from Jacobs earlier today (online) got a phone call early this evening from them saying 'sorry we dont have any in stock' bugger! I wish these online stores would sort their shit out and not list shit they dont actually have in stock! PITA!

They have sorted me out with a all but similar Slik tripod, that they are getting across from Aussie for me, its slightly more expensive but Jacobs are wearing the difference - So cannot complain about that - Good service.
