About LinkBacksQuail, Chukar and Pheasants seem to have a distinctive strong smell that cats can track. I watched a cat weaving in and out along a pine hedge on the trail of a hen and cock pheasant. The cat followed it perfectly - nose to the ground like a bloodhound. That pheasant trail was 24 hours old!
But instead of a pot of golden pheasant at the end of the trail there was another metal from further along the periodic table waiting
