    ULTIMATE AR-15 MELTDOWN

    An interesting AR15 torture test.
You can see the barrel glowing just before the barrel pops.

Why does the rate of fire increase as the AR heats up? (Totally AR ignorant here).

I thought my South African mate was exageratting when he was talking about dumping mags out of his SLR when their machine gun went down, apparently not, haha.

The rate of fire increases because the hot barrel increases the burning rate and pressure. That is why you do not leave packets of ammo on the window shelf of your car. It is possible for the heat to increase the cartridge pressure to a dangerous level.

At 7.10 you can see the brake unwinding under fire.

Looks like the DI is more reliable as expected. It was the barrel that let it down because it had a much thinner barrel then the piston gun, not the gas system like the piston gun.

IT is only one breed of AR, have seen a vid of similar thing but it was the gas tube that popped like a fuse first. Doing things the AR wasn't really ment to do even the machine guns have the barrel changed every 250rounds of sustained fire with the LSW c9 minimi. Cant from memory remember when we changed the barrels on the GPMG tho.
