Why does the rate of fire increase as the AR heats up? (Totally AR ignorant here).
I thought my South African mate was exageratting when he was talking about dumping mags out of his SLR when their machine gun went down, apparently not, haha.
The rate of fire increases because the hot barrel increases the burning rate and pressure. That is why you do not leave packets of ammo on the window shelf of your car. It is possible for the heat to increase the cartridge pressure to a dangerous level.
