Purpose of this post... mainly to those that like and get enjoyment out of wildlife photography :)
I have a collection of wildlife photos taken from around the Wellington area so I thought that I would share them on here.
I will put "x" amount of photos on here from time to time... I hope that I don't offend anybody?
Perhaps this will start a trend with others also posting photos on here from their own areas... Enjoy

I drove down the road and saw a pig and took some photos. He obviously knew I was there but he wasn't to worried as he was more interested in his lunch amongst the blackberry. :P
I decided to do a technical photographic experiment as a bit of fun to see the difference in file sizing's for displays ...:)
The previous above image of the pig photo was taken from a video (frame grab) which has a file size of 280KB (JPG).

The same pig as in the first posting but has gone back to his lunch. This is a standard photo with metadata being JPG but 6.5MB in file size.... Enjoy

Do you have a telephoto lens on?
There is definitely some very nice photos there.
I'm curious as to whether your stalking in with a medium zoom ( pig) or sitting in cover and zooming in from distance with a much larger lens.
Hi kruza, a bit late getting back to you however I'm replying to your questions.
Your questions to me reference telephoto lens stalking sitting in cover etc.
I have been doing photography for years using 35mm SVHS and DVC tapes.
I have put up various posts/links to 35mm photography SVHS and DVC tapes. When I get around to it I will put up more photos to those posts.
The pig photo you asked about was taken on a Panasonic FZ1000 bridge camera as said above this was a frame grab, I never had the correct 4k capable SD card in it at the time.
Nothing hard in what I do, one just needs a bit of motivation, then I simply get in the car and drive around. It's easy to do wild life photography these days, due to camera technology and the number of animals near the side of the road.
Some of the above photos are not sharp that is my fault, I have trouble with a filing index and time management?
I have a chap working for me, I call him my button pusher and he works remotely. He does most of the postings for me as I'm not techno savvy.
I believe a forum member called bumble foot uses DXO software and a Panasonic FZ1000 which has a built in telephoto lens.... perhaps he will comment on photo sharpness.
Goats.... As been stated before in the past.... Are they game animals?
As commonly known farmers keep them for gorse/shrub control etc.

The above photo, is it a wild goat, no. Its a domestic goat taken on a fence line eating on gorse etc. Why put it up, because I like the photo, he was a nice friendly cheeky goat. How could anyone shoot an animal like this, probably someone's pet and given a lot of enjoyment too. However I have used the words 'Wellington wildlife' because some of his mates are wild.

There is a road north of Upper Hutt through the Akatarawa valley to Waikanae.

I stopped to photograph this goat on a well known land mark.
To 4x4 drive enthusiast, as commonly known inside the Akatarawa's there are heaps of 4x4 drive tracks.... well worth a visit.

Strangely enough perhaps in some areas opossums are getting to be a scarce item in NZ.... comments?

One often sees road kill and a short time later they disappear, perhaps common hawks have there uses?

Photo taken up at the Makara cemetery, it could be said the nearest house is a good 500 meters away?

I took the car to an auto electrician who resolved the problem.
However the car window now works again. This cost me a photo of a deer on the side of the road because of this.
Just a mention....

I took the above photo of this hawk through the car window, again showing photo degregration. I think by looking at it, it was hit by a car, so was a bit crook? However it hobbled away, it may have had a broken wing?

I took this photo the other day through my cars open window.
As per the photo's previously posted of the hawk/s above it certainly makes photographing a lot easier when the window is down.
Bet those hawk eyes could tell some storys.
Spring and summer time has gone.....
Some are last years efforts again for those that like deer photos:)

Sometimes I get the titles mixed up.
These two photos are obviously of the same deer basically taken in the same area, but the titles are different.

I've also seen Ferrets dragging road kill off the road. Plenty of Ferrets on the western end of Akatarawa Road
McKenzie country is the ferret capital of NZ, after the small kingdom of the beehive
