way longer than a manuka beetle and body is more segmented.....funny he was on track and we spotted him on way up..then relocated it on way back down 4 hours later...

I know it's your leg lol. I would have said Hydraenidae but this beetle is much larger.

Megadromus antarcticus - a large ground beetle (fam. Carabidae) endemic to Canterbury, South Island of NZ.
