    280AI

I went up the range again to try & get some better groups with the Tikka T3 in 280AI
It has a 25.5" TF UM barrel on it & is starting to come right.
It is lovely to shoot with the T2 brake on it & barely recoils.

The speed isn't to bad with the Nosler brass & 2225, it has the 162s at mag length, they possibly could do with being slightly longer.
I haven't tryed seating them out further yet, the reamer is SAMI spec.

Here are some pictures of the Tikka T3 280 AI.
It has True Flite Ultra match fluted 25.5" barrel.
    20 moa EGW alloy rail.
Limbsaver recoil pad with Stainless Steel screws.
Fluted bolt with safe bolt system.
    T2 Terminator muzzle brake.
It weighs 2.910kgs as in the pictures.
The load in the pics is mag length.
It has had load development & the barrel is run in.
I have Redding bushing dies, 280 Winchester & Remington brass available at an extra cost.

I would like $2900 for it.

About the same, the .284 just a wee bit ahead depending on barrel & brass used, nothing much in it really, not far behind an average Rem mag

Greg, do you think your T2 design is just about optimal on a 280AI ? Any measurements for the reduction in recoil from what must be around 24 ft.lb on the Tikka scoped up, or perhaps your gut feel... are we talking less than 10 ft.lb ? Or is the reduction in perceived recoil from a change in impulse / time profile, something like an air rifle with a backwards and then forwards movement with the brake fitted ?

I haven't tested the recoil with the T2 on the 280ai, basically it feels to me that it barely moves under recoil well under a 243.
I think that a T1 which has 3 ports instead of 5 T2 has would work great as well.
I haven't finalised the T1 yet to test it's effectiveness on the 280ai yet.

I know that I'm getting spoilt with recoil reduction, I took 7 rifles to the range the other week for testing, sighting in etc, from 22-204 to 338.
The 6.5 Saum was "beating me up" compared to the braked rifles, it was "unpleasent" to shoot.....I'm getting soft
