    300 Norma Magnum

Here is my 300 Norma magnum, it weighs 3.995 Kgs, 7.8 lbs

McMillan A3 Edge Tech carbon stock.

Proof Research 26" 1-9 Barrel with a T3 Terminator Muzzle Brake.

A very very nice shiny Defiance Deviant Hunter action.

Leupold VX 3 4.5-14 x 50 LR CDS scope with alumina caps.

It shoots the 230 Bergers pretty well at a reasonable velocity.

    100 Yards today

Here it is at 445 yards today, .295 moa

    A short video from today.

I'm extremely happy with this rifle especially the Defiance action, it is definitely a step up from the Stiller's I've used for builds.

Very nice rifle Greg, much lighter than you expect when you pick it up with the carbon barrel.

Is the carbon barrel a light conture barrel wrapped in carbon to stiffen it?

Its a Proof Research one out of the States, I guess that's how they make them, they have been making them for a fair while now, used to be ABS as far as I understand.

Does the carbon have a higher temperature dissapation from steel, I know its an excellent conductor of electricity but havent had anything do with it and heat.

Had a play with 215 Bergers today, not too bad especially with a 14 power scope at 215 yards

    ES was pretty good too

I chucked a 25 power scope on it today & shot the 215s & 230s again at 217 yards in blustery conditions.

Looking pretty good with the Berger 230 Target Hybrids so I will stick to them as they are slightly better ballisticly than the 215s & will work great on Game.

That rifle looks NICE Greg and a weight that's actually useful for hunting...

The Norma cartridge is becoming one of my "paper favorites" (I don't own one, just want one) with the flexibility in both cost and ballistics offered by good, standard brass and huge selection of bullets from 165-230gr.

    Thanks Thomas.

It certainly has a lot going for it, apart from the bolt face required.

Its overall length is great for mag feeding even with the right throat for the 230 Hybrid Target.

Its appears to be an extremely accurate cartridge at ELR.

The 300 has more body taper than the 338 which is a very good thing.
