    .510 Whisper on Rem 700

Here is my new 510 Whisper, Rem 700 LA, Fluted bolt etc with 750 Amax at 1075fps, (still doing 900 fps at 1000 yards)

It has a 4.5-14 x 40 VX3 side focus CDS in a Spuhr mount, McMillan hunters Edge stock, 12" barrel with SSRNZ suppressor.

So far it is shooting pretty well

    Pretty cool looking bullet.

I'm looking forward to stretching it legs on steel, it drops faster than a lead balloon so I might need to borrow one of the ATACRs off my 375s

This will give you a little indication of noise & recoil.

It isn't that quiet, but it isn't that loud either..

I have a couple more sections for the suppressor on the way.

The 750 Amaxs are relatively easy to get here at the moment

The biggest problem is deciding whether to put them in the BMG or Whisper

Took her up the range again today

    I'm a very happy Boy

First cold bore dirty barrel shot, bang on in 5-15 MPH wind, even had the scope off & bedded it since last weekend, gotta love those Sphur mounts

I reckon 1k on steel is very do-able

Very impressive accuracy for a subsonic round

You'll need a vertical take of and a hit on the downward at 1000 metres? it's called lobbing I used to do it with a shuttlecock!

Looking at your vid it seems to have a reasonable amount of recoil. I guess when you're launching 750gr pills its to be expected.
    Very

Yep she recoils alright, its a really big shove, the scope kept touching me when shooting it at 215 yards, wouldn't be keen to shoot it uphill

What sort of realistic max velocity could be obtained?

That was worth a read. US$1200 total build cost and a pretty cool 50cal in a cut down WSM case. I'd buy one, still super sonic at 1000 yards after leaving barrel at 1550ft/sec! :-)
