are you testing it for comparrison's?. I think back to the breaks on the styer which were needed only on auto really even being a 5.56mm and they were a split type radial the only time i noticed it was sending shit every were was in close country or at night time with muzzel flash.
Not sure on the brake you are talking about but a .223 only has 22-26 ish grains of powder, hardly enough to blow your nose compared to 50-80-100 grains
If you have shot prone in the feild a radial braked rifle, you will know what I'm on about
