Just a bit of an update on this 300 NM.
Its since been put into an XLR chassis as a designated farm gun.
The 225gr ELDMs that were originally being used were penciling through the shoulder and were causing animals to run a LONG way after being shot. Not much fun.
Since then we tried the 215 Berger Hybrids and had some issues with vertical, therefore tried some RL-33 and a slight jam and things are definitely looking better.
And here we are again in windy conditions, with a couple of randoms completely missing the gong.
What was made very clear is how much any wind conditions can make it very hard to single out an accuracy problem at LR, and my confidence in the load still isn't 100%. Bigger guns are definitely better. I wouldn't use the 300 NM on deer past 700 ish yards.
The best thing though is the 215's are opening up in the chest cavity. Shot this one and it walked about 10 meters, then dead.
Overall very pleased with the spring venison.
