Here is a link to a brake comparison I did today.
It is using a 300 Rum Remington 700 SPSS with factory 180grain ammo at 3200fps.

What are the benefits of radial brakes then? Seems like a bit of a no contest
One of the "benefits" of a radial brake is the fact that it doesnt matter where it ends up on the rifle muzzle.
You chuck a thread on the rifle & screw it on, no need to phase/time it, very simple & cheap.
That also means that if you take it on & off it doesn't matter if it "walks" around the barrel, you hear this load of cobblers all over the place.....
A properly fitted ported brake with a decent size shoulder, 40-60 thou, not the silly 15-20 thou one on the radial brake fitted to this rifle, won't "walk" around the barrel if taken on & off, you don't need to torque them up to 80ftlbs, just hand tight is fine if hunting.
You can of course make either brake "shoulder" on the muzzle, but that can become problematic as far as machining tolerences go & it can effect the efficency of the brake
The other benefit of a Radial brake is that they are cheap & easy to make
Get behind each one on a rifle & it really is a no-brainer

Cheers for that. Thinking about one for the 300wsm but dont think its really necessary as yhe limbsaver makes it very pleasant. Maybe when I get a BIG 7 or 338 built I will get one
Put a decent wee brake on a 300 wsm and its a toy
Cant argue with results like that. Have you done one with a suppressor for a comparison to a brake? Would answer a few questions.
Have shave ya heathan
Do what ya want! Ya will anyway.
I have done several Dave, they are in my section & here

What is the difference in noise between radial and T2
The fully radial brake design is about 3 times louder to the shooter and blows mud/wet clay dirt and dust all over you, your rifle, your optics, and your mates, and is very good at making a shock wave that smacks you in the head every time you fire the rifle - very unpleasant.
Radially ported brakes have been superseded by side discharge brakes as they are far quieter to the shooter, better at reducing recoil and barely puts any ground covering material into the air.
Proper side discharge brake design is essential and minimises negative effects, poorly designed side discharge brakes can perform similarly to radial brakes but never worse.
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
I intend to do a test with all the various brakes I have at some stage.
A Mate has some seriously silly noise gear, measures pressure, DB, etc in milli seconds very $$$$$
I "think" the radial ones are louder, they have more cponcussion, but until I do some tests I can't say for sure.
I do know that radial brakes are much more "unpleasant" to use than the angle ported ones.
