A little play at the range with a suppressor brakes, vids

I went to the range to have a play testing the effects a suppressor & brakes on recoil.
This was just for fun & a spur of the moment thing & as such is more agricultural than how I normally test brakes.

The first one is my Kimber 308 shooting 150s at about 2800fps, it weighs 3.3 kgs, 7.3 lbs with bi & monopod.
The first shot is no brake or suppressor.
The second shot is a suppressor.
The third shot is my T2 brake, I will be building a 3 port version for the 308, 223 case.

This one is my old 300 Rum, firing Factory Remington 180s at about 3200, it weighs 3.9 kgs with bi & monopod.
The first shot is a long radial brake.
The second is a 4 port brake with adapter.
The third shot is my T2 brake.
The last shot is with nothing, watch it take off !!! if I didn't have a stop on the base it would have been long gone :o

Is it just me that cant see the second vid?

However I know that your brakes works as a 7lb 7wssm that I know of had a trigger issue ( Not sure what happened with that ) so it went off while just sitting on its bipod and just the owner holding onto the safety .

The thing hardly moved very impressive engineering !

I also learnt that firing 3kg Edge with 300s at 2750fps without a brake hurts as the bipod leaps 6 inches into the air.....:ORLY:

Very impressive! I remember the one time I fired my 300RUM prone without a brake - the way it violently jumped backwards in the video says it all :oh noes:

Lol, I remember those days well, all those years ago, with 220s in my 1st 300 Rum, shit they hurt....

Good way to test greg shows how they work also:)

I remember same sort or test on vid with a 338 lapua? just sitting on the bench, they cant have liked it mush first shot threw it down the hill with brake it went few inches??

........try test the brake for quiteness against the suppressor the thing they are made to do:P everything has a compremise

I got a noise meter to try to test how loud brakes were against one another & suppressors but it turns out you need a real $$$ one to be able to test it properly because the noise has such a massive peak.

I was just trying to see how much suppressors reduce recoil.
I have done it with 338s, Edge, Wsm & Fed, 300 Win mag & they still beat the crap out of you even compared to a very average brake.
So I wondered about the 308.
I have heard it so often, that suppressors reduce heaps of recoil, which is an old wives tale, my testing has shown so far.

They deffinately reduce the perceived recoil due to the noise suppression, but actual recoil.........

Suppressors reduce noise very well, some much better than others.

Muzzle brakes reduce recoil very well, some much better than others.
