    Short as Pig Rifle

Built this 22WMR for a customer recently.

He wanted something light, short & quiet for shooting pigs in the bail, that won't rust in a hurry, he is not renowned for looking after gear.

It turned out fairly well, hopefully it should be robust enough.

Pretty happy with the weight, 4.22 lbs

It will be interesting to see how it performs, shouldn't take long to find out

I'm pretty sure he predominately hunts private land, work connections

I think you can get special permits for rim fires on Public land

Forgot to mention, the CCI 40 grain ammo has 1875 fps on the box, unfortunately I didn't fire it before I cut a heap off the barrel but it goes 1788 fps now

mmmm, considering my comment on your other post, that aint too shabby really. I wonder if its a bit like 22's. Wasn't the magic number for them 16" where that was generally as much barrel as the case needed and anything longer just slowed it down?

as per that comment, at the time on another thread with that rifle someone posted up a link/table with an article testing this.
Very surprising at how short you could go and while the 16" was an old benchmark it certainly wasn't as cut and dried.

from memory too short and subs stop being subs... when loaded to be just subsonic from a "std" length barrel can allow them to crack due to less friction to slow them
