Some ceramic blades are amazing, tough, hard, sharp, abuse resistant but - and this is the big but - aviation types really don't like them as they tend to go straight through metal detectors which is not ideal. This is I think part of the reason they haven't had a bigger uptake with the other being cost. I've used one that was a very very good blade, I never got around to getting one of these but I don't know if I would get one having used the top-of-the-line versions. I think it was in the order of $400 for a little hunting knife, which is on par with a good custom blade but not something you'd hit with a rock to smash joint apart haha. Shaving ready out of the packet though and stayed that way for several animals (I tried it on number 6 or 7 I think without a touch up apparently). It was brought back from overseas and I don't know where it came from but I would seriously consider getting one.
