    WTB AR15 Barrel 16"

OK well what the hell might as well ask. Does anyone have a standard profile AR15 Barrel 16" in 1:9 or 1:8 twist, 5.56/223 chamber, prefer chrome or nitrided sitting around that they want to part with? I plan to put something together along the lines of an LMT service rifle.

    Worth asking...

    Cheers 300CALMAN

    WTB AR15 Barrel 16"

If it's for service class shoots NZSRA has stipulated mid length gas system for LMT clones-I got caught out by this
Off course this may not matter to you.

"Barrel: The Barrel must be no longer than 16 inches and will use a mid length gas system. The barrel will have a diameter under the hand guards of no more than .730 inch and the gas block diameter must be .75 of an inch. The barrel forward of the gas block area may be no larger than .740 inch. The barrel must be made from Chrome-Moly steel and may be chrome lined. It may have a Parkerised, black oxide or QPQ (Salt Bath Nitro carburised, Melonite, Tenifer etc) finish. The barrel must safely chamber 5.56 NATO ammunition. The gas block may be attached with a single pin, clamped on or held on with set screws. The Muzzle may be fitted with a Surefire WAR Comp or an A2 flash hidder. "

    Thanks Res,
Yes you are right I am trying to meet that spec IF I can. I would prefer Mid-length anyway as it is apparently nicer to shoot.

Yes and the GUNNER version but pencils and light weights tend to loose accuracy reasonably quickly when heating up i.e. when shooting service rifle. I also like a little bit of weight up front. Not ideal but If there is no other choice well...

Agree completely. I'm also looking and am almost at the point of having to have a heavy barrel turned to spec as I have yet to find a "std" barrel that meets the spec without being massively under.
Actually that brings home that the barrel I linked also doesn't due to the thickness at the gas block. #%*^##%^*!

Yes they are .625 at the gas block. Annoying if I want to fit my adjustable for shooting with a suppressor. Note you will not have to pin it either.

These look close to the correct profile:

I've got this 16" one in my LMT clone (got mine from NZAR!5), and its by far my best AR barrel... used it in service rifle open class last year, and nice groups even at 500 yards with 4x scope!

Just factory 63gr Geko ammo... from Aoraki ammo...

you can see the targets in the distance... good groups were from supported position with the soft bag at that range.
