    anyone cook up catfish fillets?

we were allowed to check a commercial fisherman's nets for carp and catfish as they are worthless to him.

sometimes he only gets 10 cents a kilo, other days he gets maybe 4 bucks a kilo.

we filleted the larger ones and the result is a boneless skinless fillet. We usually put cajun seasoning on any fish we haven't eaten yet which usually works out well.

    Anyone cooked them up?

    cheers

If you watch the croc hunters on tv...every second meal seems to be fried up battered catfish. I'm positive google will give you heaps of recipe's.

We cook em whole, gutted, score the sides, and dry then deep fry.

Also any way you'd cook another fish, quite good eating IMHO

yes, we soaked them in a vinegar/water/salt mix for 15 minutes to remove the slime.

if you fillet them properly you get a boneless fillet with skin that pulls off like a leather jacket. the frames mince up easy as and are ok as burley.
