Thread: The Cost of MRE's and Ration Packs

I can't believe how much MRE's and ration packs cost these days. The military MRE's like the ones that can be purchased from Army and Outdoors and other army surplus shops, have tripled in price from little under $20 to $55-60 per pack. And the Back Country ration packs have double in the last 12 months $30 to $60. Geez inflation has hit them hard.

It's at the point that it's cheaper to do the work yourself, make your own and then you know what's in it. Some of those MRE's are so full of preservatives it takes your guts 2 years to digest them...

Yeah getting to the stage where I'm carrying pasta packets, salami, tuna sachets, instant potato etc. When it's costing $40-50 a day for food on a hunt it's getting a bit too pricey.
