    Cost per meal

Just picked up big lot of sausages and savalouys from butchers. Divided off ten kilos of each for @amlnz and though I should share the maths with you lot as it's question often asked. Total bill works out at $10 per kilo. What's really interesting is that each savalouys or sausage weighs pretty much bang on 125grms. Twenty bags of four is ten kilos. If you eat two each per meal(that's me) it costs $2.50 per meal for me $5 for the two of us.Sure beats store bought crap sausages or cardboard savs. Initially we bualked at $10 per kilo but when it's broken right down I believe it's still really good value, besides doing batches of sausages ourselves grew old pretty fast.

Broken down...I'm happy to pay that,as said DIY gets old fast. More than happy to cut up steak n stewing steak myself and mince what's left but butcher makes a good banger so we happy to pay him to make them.wife being celiac it's vital they are gluten free.this way we know what we are getting.

A bit pricey for sausages. I pay that for 1kg salamis and half that with change per kg for sausages. When I take trimmings/ meat to the butcher.

This is why boerewors is just a long snale-like roll... you only have 1 piece each, but get to decide how to cut it.
